Celebration of Caring

The sold-out Celebration of Caring raised more than $100,000 for VNA Care’s home health and hospice services across Central Massachusetts and the Rose Monahan Hospice Home!

Organized by the Worcester Community Cabinet in honor of the Rose Monahan Hospice Home’s 25th anniversary, the inspirational evening highlighted the incredible impact VNA Care’s visiting nurses and other clinicians make in the community — work made possible through the generosity and caring of our donors. Robin Spaulding provided an insider’s perspective on what it took to establish the Rose Monahan Hospice Home as the first hospice residence in Central Massachusetts. Liisa Holm shared the agency’s impact on her life and led an incredibly successful Fund the Need.

Melisa Mantha, RN, Nurse Case Manager, reflected on the rewards of her work as a visiting nurse. She said, “We are social workers, teachers, and therapists. We sometimes become family to our patients.” Melisa extended her thanks on behalf of all her colleagues, adding, “It means so much knowing that you stand with us, helping us make an enormous difference in the lives of people right here in our community.”

25th Anniversary of the Rose Monahan Hospice Home

The Rose Monahan Hospice Home opened as the first hospice residence in Central Massachusetts on Sept. 9, 1997, thanks to the philanthropic support of many individuals, businesses, foundations, and organizations. We are grateful for the community’s ongoing support that has enabled us to care for thousands of patients and their loved ones throughout the end-of-life journey and after their loss. Learn more about the Monahan Home's history in this video featuring photos from the past 25 years. The Telegram & Gazette featured our "one-of-a-kind" hospice and one family's deep connection to the residence. Read the article on Telegram.com.

Donors to our 25th Anniversary Campaign are helping us lay the groundwork for the next 25 years. View the campaign donor list.
