Michael Willette Named Interim COO

 

VNA Care recently named Michael Willette as Interim Chief Operating Officer.

Willette began his career serving in the United States Marine Corps as training officer for the 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade, with responsibility for ensuring unit readiness in all aspects of combat, humanitarian and NATO joint exercises in theaters to include Africa, Middle East, and Europe.

Following his tenure with the Marines, Willette served in several roles within the University of Massachusetts Medical School, Center for Health Care Financing. As part of a team that developed Medicaid initiatives to fund the “health care for all” initiative, he participated in the development of innovative programs such as the Payment Intercept Program, Enhanced Coordination of Benefits, and Annuity and Estate recovery, with combined cost savings to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts of more than $100 million annually. 

Serving as the Executive Director of Administration and Finance for Patient Funding Alternatives, Willette developed the “Patient Helper Program” which identifies Medicaid high-cost utilizers in acute care settings and transitions them to employer-sponsored insurance for better patient access to specialized care and enhanced reimbursement to tertiary care facilities.

Willette later went on to create the consulting company, Sovikus Consulting Group, specializing in project management, operational excellence, lean management, revenue cycle, business development.
