VNA Care Acquires Health Care Staffing, Inc. to Improve Care Coordination at Home for Patients and Communities

Non-profit Home Health, Hospice, and Palliative Care Agency to Add Long-term Caregiver Services to its Comprehensive Offerings

Worcester, MA – June 28, 2021 – VNA Care is pleased to announce its acquisition of Health Care Staffing, Inc., a Westborough-based long-term care company that delivers exceptional personalized care services in the home. In doing so, VNA Care will add long-term caregiver services, including personal care, live-in, meal preparation, and transportation, to its already comprehensive home health, hospice, and palliative care offerings – supporting better care coordination and continuity for patients and their families.

“The impact of COVID-19 has accelerated a movement in health care away from facilities. Now, more than ever, people want to receive their care at home where they are most comfortable,” said Todd Rose, MBA, Chief Executive Officer of VNA Care. “As the talented and compassionate team at Health Care Staffing, Inc. joins ours, together we will be even stronger positioned to meet the growing needs of our communities and help people live their best lives at home. We are excited to welcome them and build on the innovative, outstanding care our patients have known for 135 years.”

Like VNA Care, Health Care Staffing, Inc. – a division of Care Solutions, Inc. – has deep and longstanding ties to Central Massachusetts. It was established in 1997 by Kim Sieurin, RN, BS, who was born in Worcester and started her nursing career in the city before founding the organization. Since its inception, Health Care Staffing has helped patients achieve their optimum quality of life while maintaining their personal dignity through personal care, companion services, and help with life’s activities such as appointment scheduling, transportation, picking up prescriptions, and grocery shopping.

“In evaluating how our organization could continue to make the most impact for the communities we serve, VNA Care – a local presence for over a century – was a natural choice,” said Sieurin, Founder/President & CEO of Health Care Staffing, Inc. “We look forward to working together to bring innovative and coordinated long-term care services to the many people and families who can benefit from them.”

As part of the acquisition, Sieurin will join VNA Care as a consultant, helping to run operations for Health Care Staffing, Inc. By expanding to include long-term caregiver services, VNA Care can stay better connected to its patients and bridge the gap when someone is discharged from acute or sub-acute home care. When necessary, VNA Care will be able to contract through the state’s Aging Services Access Points to support patients and their families in paying for these services.

“It can be hard for our clinicians to discharge a patient with whom they’ve built strong relationships after an episode of care – especially when they know that patient could use additional supports,” said Jane Pike-Benton, RN, MS, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Clinical Officer of VNA Care. “We will now be able to improve that necessary continuity of care at home to ensure the best experience and the best outcomes at the lowest costs. Our patients, their families, and their providers can rest assured that they are staying with us for the long run.”
